big on color. small on waste.

deliberate upcycling.

I buy 100% of my canvases secondhand. Each one gets cleaned and repaired (if needed) before painting.

deliberate repurposing.

When cleaning my pallet knives, instead of using paper towel, I scrape them on mixed-media paper to be repurposed later in other artworks.

deliberate community.

I collaborate with locally-owned businesses to sell my art in person, giving them a percentage from each sale.

large statement pieces.

smaller originals.

meet the artist.

KV (she/her) is a 30-something, self-taught artist based in Grand Rapids, MI. She has experience in numerous art fields: classic ones like drawing, sculpting, glassblowing, photography, graphic design, writing, crochet, weaving, sewing... and not-so-classic ones like bullet journaling and cosplay. It's only recently that she's hyper-fixated on pallet knife painting using heavy-bodied acrylics.

She started v.deliberate.art because she has always found peace when making art and she's always wanted to work for herself (so, like, why not do both??).

She chose the name, v.deliberate.art, to reflect how she consistently acts with intention, thoughtfulness, and care. She wants to make art that is less bad for the environment (because duh) and that anyone can afford (because everyone deserves to own original art).

When she's not painting, she's running after her (very fast) kiddo, taking a dog-nap (as in, trying to sleep in the same bed as a 75-lb greyhound), playing cozy video games, or giving her spouse high blood pressure by starting (yet another) project of some kind. #sorrynotsorry
